These two had quite the day - from a first look and private vows at the Magnolia Boulevard Viewpoint, followed by portraits with their bridal party under the trees, to at ceremony at Our Lady of Fatima Parish in Magnolia, and then a boat ride with their bridal party to the reception venue at Tyee Yacht Club! We met at University of Puget Sound where they both went to school, and wandered the grounds before heading to their brand new home a few blocks away. There we took pictures on the front step with their puppy, and inside popping champagne in the kitchen. We met at Discovery Park in Seattle, WA in early September, and scored some of the best weather imaginable - not to hot, not too cold, blue skies and a golden sunset. They brought their golden retriever along for the shoot and he had a blast running circles around them as they made out in the fields. These two were married at the Rosehill Community Center in late July, surrounded by family and a bridal party of almost 20 good friends. Courthouse elopements are a truly special thing. I remember my very first one - a couple reached out to me the DAY BEFORE and said they had decided to get married, and could I meet them down at the courthouse tomorrow afternoon. They even asked me to bring a witness because they didn't want anyone they knew to be there. Seeing two people make vows to each other in private, or in front of just a few friends and family, is a magical experience. All the other elements of the day are stripped away, and what's left is what a wedding is all about - the love between two people. Katie and Thomas reached out to me a week or so before their wedding, and as usual I jumped for joy. The two, and the entire day they planned, really stole my heart. They were married at sunset at the Jefferson Park Lawn Bowling Club, overlooking to city. The decor was simple and personal - driftwood and succulent centerpieces, card tables and chairs, and star wars cake toppers. She wore a 50's style dress with blue tulle, and he work a matching shirt with a bolo tie. With a small guest list, the evening was truly full of quality time with all their guests. Elegant, thoughtful, sophisticated, and a little country, these two were married at Holy Names Academy surrounded by family and friends. We took their portraits amidst the stunning architecture of the school, and I was in photography heaven to say the least. They celebrated at Bostic Lake Ranch, with a feast overlooking a lake, and dancing in the barn. Rain didn't dampen anyone spirits one bit, as you'll see from some of the crazy dance shots at the end. They had only heard of Lake Quinault, but had always wanted to go there. So when they decided to elope with their parents and daughter, they found a cabin on the lake to rent and went for it. These two reached out to me two or three weeks before their big day, and I was thrilled as always to be part of such a special event. Manuela and her daughter got ready in their own cabin with her mother, while Scott and his parents found a spot overlooking the water. Manuela entered the ceremony down a long staircase through the trees, and we took portraits of the newlyweds afterward amongst ferns and periwinkle wildflowers. We went up to the ski slopes at Snoqualmie Pass for the fall engagement photos. I picked out dhalias at the farmers market the day before, and she chose a dress from free people to complete her look.
